Adding some light around the sides of your driveway can not only light up the front of your home and make it look more attractive, but it can also make it easier to see as you drive up and down the length of your driveway at night. In fact, driveway lighting is becoming increasingly more and more popular, as the styles of lights available continue to increase and more people notice the benefits that the added lighting around their driveway can bring to their home.
There are a few key tips to keep in mind when planning on adding some lights to your driveway. The first involves choosing the types of lights to install in the first place. You have a choice of solar powered, low voltage, or regular voltage electrical lights. There are pros and cons to each different type, so you’ll have to decide which benefits are highest on your list when choosing.
For example, solar options are environmentally friendly and are easily installed (in fact, you can get some great tips on DIY installation at a site like DIYHerWay.com) and of course they are good for the environment, but they are not always the brightest of lighting options (although some of the newer models do give off adequate amounts of light).
On the other hand, if you install lights that require regular electrical current, you will get the brightness you desire, but you will also have to deal with hiring a licensed professional electrician to run the wiring for you and to hook up the lights. These lights will shine bright, but they will do so at the expense of your utility bill.
Another option that many people opt for is to install low voltage lighting along your driveway. These lights are fairly easy to install on your own, but are generally brighter than solar options. Most come in kits so you can get everything you need in one box to keep your driveway lit all night long.

We added lights along the sites of our drive way and it definitely makes it easier to park at night. That is just what the doctor ordered for night time parking. The good thing is that we used the solar powered light so it is not going to increase the electric bill too much, so that is great.
